We are situated 15 minutes from Knysna and 10 minutes from Plettenberg Bay in the Riviera of Southern Africa. Our country retreat is in the heart of the Garden Route within close proximity to all the many tourist attractions in the Garden Route area. It lies on 12 hectares of land, part of which is taken up by a large indigenous forest with a stream and fynbos.

The property has lawns and gardens with well-stocked established borders, seven dams (bring your rod), a large year-round heated swimming pool, a forest walk, and a huge variety of bird life which will keep any enthusiast content.

Winding through the estate is the Boskop River and there are three lovely dams stocked with Tilapia for the fishing enthusiast. Trails and walks through the indigenous forest reveal abundant bird life, ferns and flora.

Baboons are often heard in the forest and we receive regular visits from the Vervet Monkeys.

Visitors cottages are well separated from each other and each have their own braai (barbecue) facilities. Each cottage is fully equipped for self catering. However, upon request, for those lazy days, a full English breakfast and/or dinner may be served on our main decked terrace overlooking the views.

All cottages are serviced regularly.

Accommodation

The three homes on the estate are well separated and each has an individual character. They are fully equipped, including linen, towels and toiletries and renovated to include all the conveniences of your own home.

Haven Cottage

A delightfully quaint cottage. This 40-year old home has exposed wooden beams and painted floors. Haven's low ceilings and decorative woodwork enhance its cosy atmosphere.

Birdsong House

Birdsong is the original 120-year old farmhouse with stinkwood ceilings and log-burning fireplace.

Downstairs offers a lounge/dining area (with DSTV), a fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom with additional single bed and en-suite bath and shower facilities. There is also a further double bedroom, children's room with bunk beds, and a separate toilet and shower. Upstairs are a further 2 bedrooms with single beds and a separate toilet and shower.

Outside is a large brick paved patio and braai area, which overlooks the valley and forest. Birdsong also has its own braai area. Heaters are available in winter.

Sunbird Cottage

Romantically furnished in a modern style, Sunbird cottage is fully equipped. It has a lounge/dining room (DSTV) with double sofa bed, an enclosed braai/patio area, a full kitchen and a bedroom with en-suite shower-room.

It is built on level ground and is easily accessible. Sunbird overlooks the swimming pool and down into the valley with its lawns and lush vegetation. Heaters are available in winter.

Bed and Breakfast Rooms

Lavender Room

Lavender has 2 single beds with an en-suite ashower, a microwave, a fridge, and tea and coffee facilities. It also includes a wooden sun deck and braai area. Heaters are available in winter.

Gazania Room

This spacious room has a Mexican Oak king size bed, en-suite shower, DSTV, microwave and fridge with tea and coffee facilities. It also includes a wooden sun deck and braai area. Heaters are available in winter.
